| | I am soon to be showing a meet lamb. I have looked EVERYWHERE and found nothing, I would love to know some things that a judge would ask me while I'm showing. So far, i know that they ask about their weight and how much gain on the lamb every day or so. But I havent been able to find anything! could I get some questions and answers? and could I bother someone about the choice cuts on a meat lamb and the anatomy and names for each part of the meat lamb or cut? this would be a great help, considering this is my first time showing and im really nearvous im going to mess it up. HELP?!

| | there is a large post on this site about questions, some people hate them and others like them.
Learn the body parts of the lamb, you can google that, also learn which sheep are meat breeds, wool breeds and dual purpose breeds.
know how much finish a market lamb needs to have when it is ready for processing.
how much feed do you feed per day in pounds, plus hay, know the number one nutirent for sheep.
you need to know some things but don't get so caught up in a bunch of questions because it will confuse you and you wont remember them all, get the basics down pat.
have some one quiz you on them.
the reason I didn't answer all your questions is you will remember them better if you look them up and read them for yourself.

good luck

| | A new one(kind of) I got asked at state fair this year. Judge asked when lamb was born and then how old it was. Sounds simple but you would be surprised how many people had to really think about it and got it wrong!

| | If it was a showmanship class I would like for that judge to explain to me what those two questions have to do with showmanship...for the life of me I cannot understand if a showmanship judge feels like they have to ask questions why they do not ask questions pertaining to showmanship...OG

| | Breeding show at state 4h/ffa...in my mind that means you should know production. But, I'm a little less clubby than most.

| | I go over general knowledge like what would change about your lamb? how much does it weigh? what breed of sheep is it?
I agree with OG about questions, they should pertain to showmanship but most judges ask something and I need to have as much covered as possible don't want to kids to look dumb.
I had a girl one time that was pretty good always in the top 10 in the SR. division her last year we were going over questions at the fair, how much finish should a lamb have? yep the judge ask that question and she placed 2nd, the buy who won is one of the best in the state so she was happy.

| | In Oregon the judge does not ask any questions but we get judges from Ohio and stuff
