You can not harvest what you do not palnt. Skimping on protein or energy when breeding will cost you lambs . If you have oats, then by all means feed them. If I was buying feed, oats are generally pretty high priced, compared to anything else.

Basically figure on feeding 10% more oats on WEIGHT basis than you would corn. So if you were feeding 10 pounds of corn to 10 ewes, you'd need to feed 11 pound of oats to get the same benefit. On the other hand, oats are about 4% higher in protein, so that may be a help if they are on dry pasture.
