Got a new southdown and have never fed these before. ewe weighs about 58 pounds. her tummy is kind of big but I think she may need to be wormed. Breeder recommended jacoby feed but can't get here in Magnolia tx area so they said acco would be good. i have seen a lot of bad things about acco. And the breeder said keep her far away from the honors or any purina b/c southdowns won't thrive on it. So has anyone used producers? that is the only one around her besides those two or does anyone have recommendations? And what percent of body weight for southdowns 3 or 4? I plan to skip grain one day a week and do only hay. I also plan to give a little hay every day ....
thanks for any advice on feeds!!

Nancee. We are in magnolia and have had food success with acco on sdowns. Everyone will have their own opinion but I would be happy to help if needed.

The breeder we bought our Southdowns from recommended we feed Honor. The lambs did very well on it and we are feeding it to this year's too.

southdowns are medium wool sheep, they will tend to get fatter on you if you dont pay close attention to them but ive found out gettum fat and exercise the mess out of them. like kohutek1 said everyone has their own opinion.

Coondawg just gave you good advice. When we showed downs that worked for us. Heavy exercise is a must in that feeding program.
